Kristin Shaw, LEED AP is a leading mobility strategist and climate professional whose work shapes how communities transition toward becoming electrified, equitable, and climate‑ready. Her expertise spans EV‑infrastructure design, state and regional mobility planning, transportation decarbonization, and the integration of emerging technologies into public-sector systems. She is widely recognized for her ability to translate complex mobility challenges into actionable, people‑centered solutions that strengthen community resilience through collaborative design.
Shaw currently serves as Program Manager, Smart Cities at NextEnergy, where she leads high‑impact initiatives in advanced air mobility, EV‑charging infrastructure,  and next‑generation mobility innovations. In this role, she helps design strategies for electric‑vehicle infrastructure that expand public access, improve charging reliability, and integrate seamlessly with the built environment. Her work directly supports the mobility ecosystem, strengthening partnerships across state agencies, industry stakeholders, utilities, municipalities, and technology innovators as Michigan transitions toward a reimagined transportation future.
As a member of Mayor‑elect Mary Sheffield’s Transit Improvement & Mobility Innovation Committee, part of the Rise Higher Detroit Transition Team, she is helping shape the city’s first 100‑day mobility agenda. Her work centers on strengthening transit reliability, integrating multimodal transportation networks, improving accessibility for riders with disabilities, and designing long‑term electrification strategies for Detroit’s mobility ecosystem.
Shaw serves on the Activation Committee for Bamboo Detroit's Jefferson Hub, bringing together businesses in a space designed for both professional and social collaboration. She serves as a committee member of the Michigan Council on Future Mobility & Electrification (CFME), contributing to policy recommendations that guide the state’s long‑term mobility strategy, including EV‑charging standards, hydrogen infrastructure, grid readiness, and innovation funding. She also served on the State of Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Community & Worker Economic Transition Office Advisory Committee and the SEMCOG Electric Vehicle Steering Committee, helping guide regional EV‑infrastructure planning, interoperability standards, and coordinated investment.
Previously, Shaw played a pivotal role in Detroit’s shift toward clean mobility as part of the City of Detroit Office of Mobility Innovation. She helped secure and program more than $150 million in federal funding for EV‑infrastructure deployment, fleet electrification, and port decarbonization—establishing Detroit as a national leader in transportation‑sector decarbonization. She also guided Detroit’s successful selection as one of three global host cities in the Toyota Mobility Foundation Sustainable Cities Challenge, positioning the city at the center of global innovation in clean freight and low‑carbon mobility systems.
Her broader work across the mobility ecosystem includes contributions to Michigan Mobility 2045 Statewide Plan (MM2045), the Michigan Infrastructure Council’s 30‑Year Integrated Infrastructure Strategy, resilience planning through the National Parks, the Atlantic County Coastal Region Competitive Award Program (Resilient NJ) and the City of Detroit Streets for People: Transportation Master Plan. She also supported national research in advanced air mobility in her work on the Utah Advanced Air Mobility Infrastructure & Regulatory Study. She has also contributed to major infrastructure projects, including the I‑75 Modernization DBFM project, Revive 275 and Cavnue.
Shaw is the co‑author of Women Driven Mobility: Rethinking the Way the World Moves, a groundbreaking publication showcasing women leading mobility innovation across 11 sectors. The book, which includes a foreword by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, is frequently cited in industry discussions on transportation equity, leadership, and mobility futures. She is a Civic Nation Change Collective Fellow  representing Detroit in the inaugural selective leadership cohort dedicated to building community‑driven problem solving and cross‑sector collaboration.
Her sustainability roots trace back to her work as LEED Project Administrator for Huntington Place (formerly TCF Center), where she advanced green‑building operations and secure LEED Gold certification under LEED v4.1 O+M for one of Michigan’s most significant public venues. Her programs included green‑building operations, waste‑diversion systems, sustainability communications, and urban beekeeping initiatives. Shaw previously served on the Michigan Leadership Advisory Board for USGBC Detroit.

Shaw’s early involvement in sustainability included participation in USGBC Detroit, the Events Industry Council, and the Michigan Association of Planning, alongside volunteer work with Detroit Public Schools, the Detroit Biodiversity Network, Green Living Science and Southwest Solutions. She has also served as a guest lecturer at Wayne State University, teaching personal branding and public‑facing communications.

She holds a Master’s in Urban Planning (2019) and a Bachelor’s in Public Relations (2014) from Wayne State University.
